The new year opened with a thoughtful conversation on craft and personal expression. On 2 January, Maison Mugen was featured on ONE FM 91.3’s The Morning Drive, where we shared how fingerprints can be transformed into fine jewellery and reimagined as modern heirlooms.
During the interview, our founder Michelle-Ying Teo spoke about the journey behind Maison Mugen, from inheriting her grandfather’s jade pieces to training as a GIA gemologist in London. She discussed the studio’s approach to jewellery as something intimate and expressive, created not only to be worn, but to hold meaning. Central to the conversation was the idea of jewellery that feels surprisingly familiar, grounded in memory yet designed for the present.
Listeners were also introduced to KIN, Maison Mugen’s fingerprint fine jewellery experience. Using soft wax crafting, fingerprints and paw prints are captured in their most natural form, preserving details that cannot be replicated through laser engraving. Each piece is then traditionally cast and hallmarked in London, ensuring provenance, quality, and longevity.
Rooted in both Singapore and London, Maison Mugen brings together contemporary design and time honoured craftsmanship. The interview explored how a new generation of collectors is embracing bespoke jewellery as a way to mark personal milestones and create pieces with lasting significance.
